Blessing of children

“For he will command his angels to guard you in all your ways.” Psalm 91:11

A happy couple holds their newborn baby in their arms, with a world map on the wall in the background, symbolizing global community and family.

God says YES to us

We believe that God accepts every person unconditionally. During the blessing of the children, we seek to place the very youngest—infants and small children—under God’s protection and to bestow upon them all the blessings God has in store for them. On the one hand, the parents affirm their desire to raise and nurture their child together with God. On the other hand, we as the entire church wish to stand behind the parents and support them in this endeavor. During the service, we take the time to pray for each child and their parents. Godparenthood is also a beautiful tradition and a wonderful opportunity to provide the child with additional loving people to accompany them on their life’s journey.

Baptism

Since baptism is handled differently across various Christian denominations: For us, the blessing of a child signifies God’s “yes” to humanity. His “yes” applies to everyone. Through baptism, a person, in turn, says “yes” to God. That is why we baptize older children and adults. You can find more information about baptism here:
