Personal marriage support

With our marriage coaching, we want to strengthen and support couples in their marriage and help them grow practically in their relationship.

Why marriage coaching?

You want to strengthen your relationship and develop your marriage further beyond what you’ve already achieved. With a marriage coaching couple, you’ll find neutral listeners who help you put your thoughts and feelings into words. This sharpens your understanding of your own situation. Self-worth and self-confidence are strengthened. For couples in conflict situations, the conversations help you find a new “yes” to your husband or wife and recognise a new perspective for your marriage.

Your options

You can choose between a one-off check-in conversation or a series of conversations on a specific topic.

Marriage coaching with a series of conversations

Who is a series of conversations suitable for?

You want to nurture your relationship as a couple. You may notice a growing distance and expect less and less from your partnership, or certain topics occasionally or more often lead to tension.

With a marriage coaching couple, you have someone who listens to you well. They walk an encouraging path with you and your topics. A series of conversations starts with an initial meeting and ends with a check-in where you decide on next steps.

We recommend 4–6 conversations of 1½ hours each.

One-off check-in conversation

Who is a check-in conversation suitable for?

For couples who have been married for many years and would like to gain new perspectives on their relationship, but don’t come with a fixed topic. A check-in conversation offers insights into growth and needs.

The conversation with a coaching couple enables a fresh look at your marriage. If you wish, we use the couple assessment “Prepare & Enrich”, which must be completed in advance. Afterwards, you can agree on further steps with the couple supporting you.

Process

1. Registration

As soon as we receive your registration via the registration form, we will forward it to a couple in your area. They will contact you to arrange an appointment. The conversations take place at the coaching couple’s home. You’ll meet a couple who supports you as equals. The initial meeting gives you the space to decide calmly whether this conversation offer is a good fit for you.

2. Initial meeting

In an initial meeting, you get to know the coaching couple and how they work. After the initial meeting, all four participants decide whether the series of conversations will continue. Can a relationship of trust be built, and does the marriage coaching offer meet expectations?

For couples who cannot be given the necessary support through marriage coaching, a list of counsellors is available. They provide counselling in a professional setting for a fee. In some cases, marriage coaching can accompany counselling. In that case, it’s recommended to address this addition in the initial meeting.

3. Conversation topics

You decide the topics of the conversations. Or the coaching couple suggests topics based on your goals and their experience. We conduct the conversations on a Christian basis. Anyone can take part without any faith prerequisites. Whether and how prayer accompanies the conversations is something you decide in consultation with the coaching couple.

What you can expect from a marriage coaching couple

👍🏼

In our own marriage, we have found marriage conversations helpful both in everyday life and in crisis situations.

🤝

Our lifestyle is shaped by the Christian faith. We are open to couples from other backgrounds.

🏠

We open up our private living room and occasionally give insight into our married life.

At the moment, we only have marriage coaching couples who live in Switzerland. If the journey is too long, we also offer conversations via Zoom video call.

⛪️

We are integrated into ICF Zurich and lead the conversations as volunteer team members as a contribution to our church. After training for marriage coaching couples, we attend intervision and further training Events at ICF Zurich at least twice a year.
