In this sermon by Dave Kull, he discusses why you shouldn’t simply follow your heart. Dave explains that our hearts are often a battlefield where different thoughts and emotions clash. He draws a comparison to a guitar that needs regular tuning to sound harmonious. Just like a guitar that’s out of tune, we too need to continually realign our hearts with God’s truth. The Bible says that the heart is incurably sick (Jeremiah 17) and that we should take captive our minds to submit them to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Dave encourages you not to follow the lies of the world that tell you to follow your heart, but to rely on God’s Word. Practically speaking, this means remaining in prayer and dialogue with God and using the Bible as your standard. In this way, you can experience the freedom and renewal that God has planned for your life. Are you ready to retune your heart?
