Love goes through the cellar – Why I can't love | Michael & Sarah Sieber | ICF Zurich

2025/05/04 | Sarah & Michael Sieber

In this sermon Sarah & Michael Sieber show that love often must go through the cellar—your hidden past, wounds and “boxes” of upbringing—to grow stronger. Main idea: unseen baggage (finances, conflict styles, childhood hurts) lives in your relationship’s cellar and will sabotage intimacy unless you intentionally search and clean it (Song of Songs 3; Psalm 139). Practical takeaway: decide to “yada” — really know each other; ask gentle questions about values; choose timing, humility and courage to address triggers; pray together and forgive so small wounds don’t become foxes that ruin your vineyard (1 John 4:12). Call to reflection/action: you can’t change your partner, but you can clear your cellar—commit today to search, listen, and steward the love God wants to complete in you.
